Plain-English Accounting
THE TECHNICAL LITERATURE
In the recent past, authoritative rule-making bodies within the accounting profession have been releasing [and will continue to release] a “flurry” of accounting and auditing technical literature guidance. The trend related to issuing this “flurry” of standards is expected to continue over the next few years. Bottom line = Practitioners need to be ready to implement some significant changes in the financial statements and ready to implement some significant changes related to how those statements are audited, reviewed, and compiled.
PLAIN-ENGLISH GUIDANCE
Many CPA firms are using the Plain-English explanations of authoritative literature through subscribing to receive Tom Ratcliffe’s Plain-English Accounting materials. Commonly, practitioners also rely on Tom as a resource in addressing technical issues. Tom is Director Emeritus of the School of Accountancy at Troy University and Director of Accounting and Auditing at Wilson Price. The combination of his experiences as an educator and as a practitioner enables him to explain complex practical issues in a way that is easily understood by fellow practitioners. Bottom line = Practitioners receive the benefit of Plain-English explanations of practical accounting and reporting issues.
THE BENEFITS
While the authoritative literature in the accounting profession is readily-available through a variety of sources, practitioners often have questions about how that technical literature is applicable in particular fact/circumstances. By becoming a subscriber to Plain-English Accounting, you will have access to Tom’s expertise by receiving his bi-weekly reports through which he describes “how to do” what you “need to do” in implementing the authoritative literature. This information might be helpful to you in your accounting and auditing practice and might be helpful in your efforts to explain the financial statement impact of this literature to your clients. Bottom-line = With your annual subscription you will receive the following benefits:
- Analytical, practical bi-weekly REPORTS e-mailed directly to you
